DAYS TO GO

Show Bag Launch Reveal 2023

MEDIA RELEASE | 08 September 2023

There are just fifteen more sleeps until the Royal Show opens – but today became a ‘Show Day’ for children and their families at Perth Children’s Hospital as they gathered for the Show Bag Launch Reveal. The Royal Agricultural Society of WA and Ronald McDonald House Charity joined forces to bring the Royal Show to young kids who may not get the opportunity to go this year – unveiling the exciting new showbags that will be on offer, from Star Wars to Bluey and everything in between.

Ronald McDonald House Charity CEO, Peter King said the event is what the charity is all about – helping make the children feel special as they were the first to check out the amazing showbags, before the rest of Perth.

“The Ronald McDonald House Family Room at Perth Children’s Hospital is all about providing a bit of respite while they’re going through a healing journey and also creating magical moments for the kids, like today,” he said.

There were big smiles on everyone’s faces as families enjoyed showbags, carnival games, giant soft toy prizes, face painting, balloon modelling and a visit from princesses, Belle and Moana. Some children also enjoyed being superstars for the morning and being interviewed by the media – they can’t wait to catch themselves on the nightly news.

Father, Chris Hams, bringing his one-and-a-half-year-old son to the festivities, was blown away by the showbags and prizes that were handed out to the kids for free.

“It’s very, very generous – everything here helps kids so much and makes their time here much easier,” he said.

Margaret Pearce had to travel all the way from Leinster, four hours past Kalgoorlie, to bring her daughter, Jasmine in for a second round of hip surgery. She never thought Jasmine would get to experience the fun of the Royal Show.

“This whole Ronald McDonald House and all the support is amazing, and all the stuff we get. My daughter’s face lit up last night when we were told about the event. It really made her day today,” she said.

Showbag City is bringing the latest and greatest showbags to the people of Perth and Managing Director, Mark Marinovich is immensely proud of the offerings this year.

“These bags were crowd favourites at the Sydney Easter Show and we are excited to debut them at this year’s Perth Royal Show,” he said.

Along with the showbags, there’s many new attractions this year and Royal Agricultural Society of WA CEO, Robyn Sermon says people of all ages will have the time of their lives.

“We have racing ducks which we’re very excited about. We have a new ride which can catapult you through the air. We have a Neon Alley which will be an exciting addition, and all the favourites of the show,” she said.

The Royal Show starts on the 23rd of September and tickets are on sale now.
