Sheep

Each year around one thousand sheep take up residence in the Sheep Shearing and Wool Pavilion, ready to be judged on their meat, wool or breeding.

A broad range of breeds are represented from the Merino, Corriedale, Dorper and White Dorper to British Breeds including Border Leicester, South Suffolk, Suffolk, Shropshire, Wiltshire Horn and Wilti Poll, together with Poll Dorset, Prime SAMM, Texel and White Suffolk.

The All Breeds Stud Ram and Ewe Sale is a colourful and busy event drawing plenty of spectators and buyers. For many years farmers have brought their best sheep to the Perth Royal Show in the hope of realising a strong price for their animals, as a sheep with a Royal Show ribbon will often obtain a higher price.

Don’t forget to check out the shearing demonstrations all week and bring the kids in to ‘Luv a Lamb’ for a great photo opportunity.
