Artist’s Statement:

It is a structural matter, a view from a window which has been carefully placed to exclude a whole quadrant of the landscape – simple forgetting of other possible views – cult of forgetfulness. W.E.H Stanner. 1974, a Holden HR drives past Cherry Tree Pool Road on an ideal family summer holiday to Albany, ignorant of what was happening down that road. Shame. 1987, Friday afternoon driving back to Perth on Mission Road, Aunty Marj hitches a lift to see family, still really not understanding. 2024, returning to Marribank, things fall apart, trying to remember and grateful to Aunty Marj for the conversations.
