Artist’s Statement:

As a child, camping was a regular activity. Hours, days, and weeks were spent observing the landscape changes as the days went on. In mid-2023 I went out to my family’s bush block and spend some time painting amongst the Salmon Gum Trees. The experience of warmth and comfort which radiated of these trees was incredible. New Bloom XXII was created with that day?s experience in mind. The painting also features crushed rocks and quartz from around the Salmon Gums, ground up into the dark purple layer scratched and rubbed into the surface of the linen.
