Artist’s Statement:

I recently embarked on a painting trip to Tjoritja (East MacDonnell Ranges). At times the magnificence of the gorges was quite overwhelming and I wasn?t interested in depicting a ‘western view’. I went for a walk to reset and on my way back a tree stump with termite mud tracks took my attention (surface and pattern), and the plein air drawings became the precursor to this painting.
