Artist’s Statement:

Trees have a superpower to make us feel better. My art celebrates this magical quality through paint. Different viscosities of acrylics on rigid panels support the development of visual texture, which is important to my practice. Working from memory the image evolves as I playfully add and subtract paint; smearing, scratching, dripping and sanding. The resulting visual texture is balanced by pleasing shapes of negative space. A limited palette creates harmony and cold wax adds softness, inviting you to explore the painted patterns and unique forms of the forest. Inspired by walks through Boranup?s giant Karris, which always transport me to a child-like, carefree and magical state.
