Artist’s Statement:

An exploration of line, shape and colour characterises my work. In the painting The Fish River, I explore the visual elements of the rural landscapes of my childhood. The work explores early memories of flying with my dad in his small plane over the farmland areas we lived in. The repetitive geometric patterns, lines and defined shapes had a great lasting impact on my visual understanding. I remain entranced by the patterns of vegetation within the landscape – in both cultivated and wild forms – and how they deeply affect and nuture us.
